The Echo Observatory V2 is a visual synthesizer and a handcrafted tribute to fractals and self-similar patterns. It's a mysterious artifact that both generate and visualize complex mathematical formations, in real-time.
Fancy formulas are not for everyone, and even the most curious minds will struggle finding revelation in algebra. Fractals are often portrayed in digits - maths can be very excluding in that way; the outsider will rarely find beauty in equations. The Echo Observatory is fractals presented in a new context, and a stimulating introduction to the art of mathematics.
While manipulating data values, the on-screen pattern mutate and transform in endless formations. The use of a circular display effectively eliminate set directions and releases an open-ended cosmos. A magnifying lens mounted on top amplifies the experience. In order to move around boundlessly, the user can zoom, pan and rotate. It's like gazing deep into space, dissect parts of it and discover its mind blowing unintelligible wonders.

"A fractal is a never-ending pattern. Fractals are infinitely complex patterns that are self-similar across different scales. They are created by repeating a simple process over and over in an ongoing feedback loop. Driven by recursion, fractals are images of dynamic systems – the pictures of Chaos. Geometrically, they exist in between our familiar dimensions. Fractal patterns are extremely familiar, since nature is full of fractals. For instance: trees, rivers, coastlines, mountains, clouds, seashells, hurricanes, etc. Abstract fractals – such as the Mandelbrot Set – can be generated by a computer calculating a simple equation over and over." - Fractal Foundation
